Burgess Supply – Business Spotlight

Look at what Burgess Supply has done to make remodeling easier!

When I first moved to Cornelius as a designer, I got a job working for Burgess Supply Inc. 30 years ago. There was not much around, and I love the fact it was family-owned and started in 1949. I was just a little girl with no idea what I would become and where I would live.

Working with Rhonda and Ben Griffith was a treat and a huge help in getting to know the area. Back then, they had already put the word “Experience” into their business. It was all about customer service with a smile. Today, I see them growing in new and exciting ways. Better products, service, and an updated look. Making it easier for the consumer to finish their space.

I was working with a client who wanted blues and grays for their sitting room.

So, where did I go first? I walked into Burgess Supply because they specialize in all types of flooring. To my right is the area for rugs. The first rug I saw was it. I took a picture of it and headed next door to Modern Fabrics. I have worked with the Store Manager, Debra Worthy, several times and find her very fast and helpful. Within minutes, she had pulled four coordinating fabrics together to complement the rug.

Back to Burgess!

Benjamin Griffith, the son of Rhonda and Ben, is just as helpful as his parents were. It is also nice to see it stay in the family. Debra brought the fabrics over and we all were thrilled with the selections.

Left is the head installer for Burgess, Matthew Doyle, Modern Fabrics, Debra Worthy, and Ben Griffith.
They made me and my client very happy.

We were also standing on the perfect tile for the front entrance!

Around the corner, I found the perfect carpet for the hall and stairs. Here’s a quick trick I learned years ago: Suppose you want to test a carpet and see how dense it is. Put your fingernails in it, and if they move around a lot, it is not going to last long. The carpet will mat down and show the traffic pattern.

The other way is to bend the carpet; if you see “the grin” or the backing, you will know it is not top-quality. This will save you lots of time and money.

This one is a keeper.

An added value on their website.

If you have never used a Room Visualizer check it out. Upload a picture of your room and select various flooring you consider installing. The software allows you to see the flooring in your room with your furniture. You can also change the lighting, paint color and rotate the floor. Go to Products and click on See In My Room.

We also want to share some exciting news!

Burgess Supply has brought in two businesses that complement its offering. Modern Fabrics has been open and going strong for a while. Coming soon is “Accent Prone,” which will add to the One-Stop Shop area they have created.

Mark your calendar’s today for this great event. You will be able to check out how to take advantage of One Stop Shopping.
