Fantasy Football Week 4- w/Frank Ober

Picks & Tips for Week 4 of the NFL Season

Fantasy Football Article – Week 4

Scoring is down in the NFL so far this season.  This can be attributed to a number of factors including poor offensive line play; injuries to star players; several teams playing two-deep safeties on defense to limit big plays; and struggling QB play.  It should be noted that the three rookie starting QBs are gaining experience and confidence as evident by their improved play.

I neglected to give kudos in my video to Josh Allen who had the best performance by a QB in week 3 with over 300 yards of offense and 4 passing touchdowns.

We thought week 3 provided clarity on the RB situation in Kansas City with Isiah Pacheco expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.  Rookie RB Carson Steele received most of the carries and played a solid game.  Veteran RB Samaje Perine served as the third-down back.  However, the Chiefs have added RB Kareem Hunt to the active roster.  Continue to monitor this situation to see how he will be used.

The Houston Texans cannot wait to get RB Joe Mixon back.  RB Cam Akers got the start with Mixon backup RB  Dameon Pierce also out with an injury.  Akers did score a TD but did not provide the same production Houston needs to balance their offense.

After three weeks of play, you should have a good feel for which players you can rely upon each week and which players may be matchup dependent.  As a rule, play your stud players every week regardless of matchups.

Week 4 Selections Versus the Point Spread

New York Giants (+5.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are an enigma.  Where is the defense?  They have no running game.  The Giants are riding high and have something to prove, especially being underdogs at home.

Buffalo Bills (+2.5) at Baltimore Ravens

The Bills are playing as well as anyone.  The Ravens have been up and down.  Take the visitors with the points.

Detroit Lions (-3.5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have not faced stiff competition and must travel across the country.  The Lions have not reached their stride yet, but they are the better team.  Take the home team minus the points.
