CORNELIUS NC: HempLily held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on March 28th. Since then business has been steady and growing. They had a record crowd on April 20th (420) when they were offering 10% discounts.
What is CBD Oil?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-toxic and non-euphoric substance found in hemp plants. The hemp plant is related to the cannabis plant but does not contain enough tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to create a high. For CBD oil to be legal in North Carolina, the hemp is grown to have only .3% THC or less.
“Most of the medicine without the high. Hemp is the original plant before man hybridized it to increase the high.”
—Terri Long, owner of HempLily
Long tells me that anyone in the industry selling CBD oil is not allowed to make claims. “We operate from customer feedback and experience.”
Common feedback that Long receives from customers is that CBD oil brings relief from chronic pain (something that Long has experienced herself), insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
Hemp oil or CBD oil?
Hemp oil is made from ground hemp seeds. It’s highly nutritious and you can typically buy it from a grocery store. Most of these oils are inexpensive and contain no CBD. But, read your labels carefully; especially if you are buying products off the internet. That’s why Long recommends shopping locally for CBD oil, so you can see and try the product.
What is different about HempLily?
Long worked closely with interior architect, Zachary Luke of Zachary Luke Designs to create a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere in her store. Customers receive a free consultation from Long or one of her HempLily certified associates. Their most popular product is the oil, but there is also a salve that can be used on aching muscles. Long says they are always researching and adding new products. One of the biggest differences about HempLily’s CBD oil is taste. They sell natural, lemon, and mint flavors.
“We let people try it for free and many people experience relief before they leave the store.”
Possible allergic reactions
In general, there are no adverse effects from taking CBD oil. The oil is a tincture of concentrated medicine in a carrier oil. There is a possibility that you could be allergic to hemp or coconut. Both of these elements make up the CBD oil. However, the possibility of being allergic is similar to any other type of vitamin supplement or food. Many resources are available on HempLily’s website to aid in your search for information on the usage of CBD Oil.
One note of caution
The minuscule amount of THC found in CBD oil can accumulate in your body, if you take large doses over a long period. So, there is a small possibility, over a long period of time of continuous usage, for the THC to show up on a drug test.
Why did she open the store?
Long was once chronically ill. Her doctors only wanted to prescribe medicines that were a “patch.” She believes in natural healing. When she found out CBD oil is legal here in North Carolina, she wanted to help others feel better naturally. Long’s goal is to soften the stigma surrounding CBD oil, with a gentle name, preferred taste, and the simplest quality ingredients.
“It’s not about me, it’s about the store and helping people.”
