HABITAT CHARLOTTE REGION – The Beloved Community Initiative

Will You Be a Part of the Beloved Community?

Last month, Habitat Charlotte Region kicked off our annual Beloved Community initiative. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s work and vision, the Beloved Community is a tangible expression of our collective pursuit of justice, opportunity and equality.

Habitat Charlotte Region’s Beloved Community initiative is a collection of events that bring together a diverse array of partners from across the area to help build a brighter, more just Charlotte Region. It is grounded by the immense opportunity created through affordable housing for families historically left out of America’s dream of prosperity.

There Are Many Ways to Participate

You are invited to join us and participate in Beloved Community, and there are many ways you can make your own impact in the lives of families right here in the Charlotte Region this spring:

Participate

Join us on Tuesday, March 8th at CPCC’s Halton Theater for our annual Building Futures Affordable Housing Symposium. This event is free and open to the public, and this year will be a hybrid in-person and virtual event where Author and Scholar Andre M. Perry will join us for a conversation that focuses on the rampant devaluing of assets in Black-majority communities and how overcoming racist policies would enable massive financial and social gains for families and businesses in these areas. Learn more about Andre Perry’s work and register for Building Futures at https://www.habitatcltregion.org/event/building-futures-affordable-housing-symposium/

Donate

Now through the end of February, you can show your support by shopping at any of our six Charlotte Region ReStore locations! While you’re there, you can make a $1, $5 or $10 donation as part of our Beloved Community ReStore fundraiser. All funds support Habitat Charlotte Region’s mission of affordable homeownership and home repair throughout the Charlotte Region.
