LKNConnect Rescue Pet of the Week — Expanding Our Reach

Adopt a Pet

Every Pet Deserves a Second Chance

LKNConnect is expanding our Rescue Pet of the Week to help even more animals find the loving homes they deserve. In addition to featuring adoptable pets from AnimalCity, we’re proud to welcome Piedmont Animal Rescue (PAR) as another rescue partner. Founded in 2017, PAR is an all-volunteer, foster-based nonprofit that has rescued more than 7,000 animals and lives by its motto, “Where Animals Come First.” Together, AnimalCity, Piedmont Animal Rescue, and LKNConnect can introduce more deserving dogs, cats, and other companion animals to families throughout the Lake Norman community. Every pet has a different story, but they all share the same hope—a second chance, a safe home, and someone to love. By expanding our reach, we hope to create even more happy endings, one adoption at a time.

Meet Ethel Mae

She survived Hurricane Helene. Now she’s waiting for someone to say… ‘Come home.’”

Sometimes a video tells the story better than words ever can.

Why We Think You’ll Love Ethel Mae

If you’re someone who understands that the most beautiful connections are often the ones that take time—and if you’re looking for a companion to share your days—Ethel Mae may be the pet you’ve been waiting for. Ethel Mae has come so far and with the 2nd anniversary of hurricane Helene coming up in September, her story is even more compelling. This sweet girl really deserves a chance at a forever home.

About Our Adoption Partner

LKNConnect is honored to partner with AnimalCity and Piedmont Animal Rescue (PAR), two organizations dedicated to giving rescue animals the second chances they deserve.

Founded by Leah Henrichsen, AnimalCity works tirelessly to help pets whose owners have passed away, become incapacitated, or can no longer care for them find safe, loving forever homes. Their compassion and commitment help animals facing uncertain futures begin a new chapter with families ready to love them.

We’re equally proud to welcome Piedmont Animal Rescue, working with Melissa Shoemaker and the PAR team to introduce even more deserving animals to the Lake Norman community. Founded in 2017 and guided by the motto “Where Animals Come First,” PAR has rescued more than 7,000 animals of all breeds and sizes. The nonprofit is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization, meaning animals entering its program are cared for in homes rather than a traditional kennel or shelter environment. PAR also promotes adoption, spay/neuter programs, responsible pet ownership, and community education.

By bringing AnimalCity and Piedmont Animal Rescue together with LKNConnect’s growing Lake Norman audience, Rescue Pet of the Week can reach more people, tell more stories, and give more animals an opportunity to find the families they’ve been waiting for.

Two rescue partners. One Lake Norman community. More chances for happy endings—one adoption at a time.

Please Share Ethel Mae’s Story

Not everyone can adopt a pet—but everyone can help save one.

If Ethel Mae isn’t the right fit for your family, please consider sharing this story with your friends, neighbors, and social media followers. One simple share could introduce Tipsy to the person who has been searching for a loyal companion.

Together, the Lake Norman community can help more rescue pets find the loving homes they deserve.

Because every pet deserves a second chance… and every forever home begins with a single introduction.

LKNConnect’s Mission

At LKNConnect, we believe communities are built through connections—not only between people and local businesses, but also between people and the pets who need them most.

Every adoption changes two lives: the life of a rescue pet and the life of the family who welcomes them home.

We hope you’ll join us every Saturday as we introduce another remarkable rescue pet searching for a forever home.

Together, let’s create more happy endings—one pet at a time.
