I love breakfast!
One of my favorite places to eat is The Fresh Egg in The Shops at Fresh Market in Cornelius. During the warm but not hot months, my husband Tony and I usually walk there so we can feel virtuous about eating a big breakfast. And theirs are the best!
Great coffee
The coffee reminds me of good, strong, diner coffee. The kind that is so mellow with cream that you can just drink cups and cups of it with your meal.
Friendly service
This place is busy because it’s a favorite of many of the locals. BUT, whether you come to eat there every day or every other week, Charlie and her staff make you feel like a regular. Service is attentive — coffee’s on the table lickety-split. And once you’ve ordered, it doesn’t take long for your food to arrive fresh and hot.
Delicious Food
My go-to breakfast here is the Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit. [Feature photo above] Did I mention that there’s cheddar cheese IN the biscuit? It’s light, flaky, & cheesy. My favorite is their Corned Beef Hash which is made right there in the restaurant. (It’s a great portion, I usually take some home!)
You can get breakfast or lunch all day from the time they open so if it’s noon and you want eggs, no problem! And if it’s 8 am and you want lunch, no problem!
They make great Eggs Benedict and there is usually a special with a fantastic combination that you’ve never thought to put together, but tastes amazing. You can also get the Eggs Benedict over cauliflower patties which my husband orders and he tells me they are delicious. You can see a sample menu here.
Fresh Egg is the sister restaurant to Fresh Chef
Which is also located in The Shops at Fresh Market in Cornelius. Fresh Chef serves lunch and dinner. They have several locations in the Lake Norman area.
