Off-the-beaten-path tap rooms offer exceptional brews

1 min read

On weekends when you are looking for a new place to enjoy a good brew and food, check these hidden gems in Lake Norman.

Cork & Cask

This classic setting with a side of funk serves 12 well-curated beers on tap, plenty of canned brew options, and a juicy wine list. And if you’re in the mood for a bite, it has you covered there as well with many food items to drool over. I recommend starting with the C&C Nacho Factory—a huge mound of chips, beer cheese, and a variety of nacho fixings topped with your favorite meat. Complementing this nacho delight with a craft brew is a perfect culinary experience. For the finer side of things, opt for its mouth-watering charcuterie selection. You can’t go wrong with this meat and cheese board paired with a dark, strong beer or a full-bodied red wine. Its menu has a little bit of everything for everybody.

Bottle & Tapped

When you’re looking for a couple of beers and conversation, Bottle & Tapped is the place to go. Its tap list varies from what you would find on other tap lists in the Lake Norman area. These brews span many styles, many of which may be new to you. Looking to taste sours but leery of jumping into the sour movement? Ask about its great selection; the owners and staff are knowledgeable and can guide you in the right direction. For those of you searching for some different IPAs, this is an ideal place to wet your hoppy palette. The conversations flow with regulars and new comers. This hidden gem is off Catawba, right beside the Waffle House.

Granted, there are many hidden gems in the Lake Norman area but these two are some of my favorites. We are blessed with many bottle shops and restaurants that are starting to carry craft brews on their taps. Get out and try something new. The options are endless.
