Vacuuming, dusting, and detailed cleaning is something that simply has to be done every so often, to keep any home from getting out of control.
That doesn’t make the process any less miserable for the average person who’d rather be doing something else with their time. But that’s where the folks with CottageCare relish stepping in and rescuing your sanity.
“The idea that seems to resonate is if we can take care of things like cleaning for you and your family, that gives you time to enjoy other family activities,” said Gary Strader, the owner and operator of the local CottageCare franchise. “And when you’re in such a beautiful area around Lake Norman like we are, that makes it an even easier sell.”
CottageCare offers a full menu of services, from general sprucing up, to more tailored cleaning of specific areas. They can handle everything from hand-washing hard floors to scouring sinks, toilet bowls and showers in bathrooms.
The business does not require contracts and has no rescheduling fees.
“We can also customize plans by room,” said Strader. “So if at any point in time you need to add or remove rooms, we can do so depending on your situation or budget.”
CottageCare was established as a company in 1976 and now has 44 franchises now around the country. Strader’s father was one of the earliest franchisees, establishing North Carolina’s first location in Charlotte in 1992. And when Strader himself later decided to escape corporate America in search of more time with his kids, he joined the family business.
Four years ago, Strader opened the CottageCare franchise in Lake Norman. He is now running that local site, while his brother operates the one in Charlotte.
He said the service they provide is rewarding.
“I enjoy working with different people, seeing different homes,” said Strader. “It’s about helping families to prioritize other things that are more important to them than the cleaning.”
Strader said he’s found that a lot of their clients are seeking relief from a couple of key mess-makers: kids and pets. But they also enjoy helping seniors who still want the independence of living on their own, despite not being being physically able to clean their homes.
“It’s nice to be able to help keep seniors in their homes a little longer,” he said.
