People in the Know with Margi Kyle: Special Guest: Jeff Hammett

About This Episode

A Thanksgiving meal can mean much more than food on the table—it can remind a family that their community cares.

In this episode of People in the Know, Margi Kyle welcomes Jeff Hammett of the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club to discuss its annual Thanksgiving dinner project. Under Jeff’s leadership, the effort has grown from serving 25 families to approximately 500, bringing together volunteers, students, businesses, and community organizations.

Jeff shares what goes into filling each Thanksgiving box, how gift cards help families who cannot cook a turkey, and why handwritten cards from local students make the deliveries especially meaningful. He also previews the November 7 fundraiser at Lost Worlds Brewing and explains how volunteers can help on the Monday before Thanksgiving.

Watch this conversation about gratitude, community service, and the difference we can make when we work together.
