Where Do Our Animals Come From?

At Lake Norman Humane we take in animals from all different walks of life. From municipal shelters throughout North and South Carolina, owner surrenders, to our first international pull from China and Taiwan. At Lake Norman Humane, our goal is to save unwanted animals or those at risk of euthanasia and to make the largest rescue impact possible!

Who Is Available for Adoption?

We intake animals every day and our available animals changes frequently. All of our adoptable animals are posted on our facebook page @LakeNormanHumane and our website lakenormanhumane.org. From dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, to guinea pigs, birds, and hamsters we have amazing animals for everyone!

How Do I Adopt?

We strive to make our adoption process simple and easy for everyone. Our goal is to match our animals with their perfect fur-ever homes. Our adoption process begins with an application either through our website, lakenormanhumane.org, or in person at our facility. 2106 Charlotte Hwy, Mooresville NC 28117. Our application allows us to get to know your family, current pets, and life-style and match our animals that would best fit in your home. Our goal for every adoption is to ensure both our pets and your family live happily ever-after together.

What’s Included With Your Adoption:

All animals adopted through Lake Norman Humane are current on vaccines to date, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, microchipped, dogs tested for heartworm disease and started on heartworm, flea/tick prevention, and cats tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and started on heartworm and flea prevention.

Additionally, every animal is sent home with an adoption kit which include PetSmart welcome kit/coupons, Free New Client Pet Exam with one of our veterinary partners, training tools and discount with our training partner, and tips for introducing your new pet.

After Adoption:

Following adoption, our staff, coordinators, and partners serve as a resource for any questions or concerns that would arise after adoption. Our goal is to ensure every animal stays in their adoptive home. We post Lake Norman Humane Alum on our social media, and highlight them in our newsletter as well. Every animal and adopter is always a part of the Lake Norman Humane Family!
