Adorable Children’s Clothing + a Good Selection of Books = a Fabulous “Hidden Treasure” in Mooresville
How does a parent get a child to read?
Does your child enjoy reading? Do you enjoy a good book? Do you want to instill a love of reading in your child? If the answer to any of these questions is yes — then — this article will spotlight the perfect place for you: Paige Turner Books & Boutique is a true “hidden treasure” in Mooresville.
The secret…
The main secret to get your child to read is for him or her to see YOU reading. Another key factor is to make sure your child has the right book that will inspire him or her to read. Expose them to books and let them choose what they want to read.
This Boutique has a “Catchy” Creative Name
One would think that Paige Turner is the owner of the boutique. But no! The owner’s name is Nikki Ketring. She and her husband Brian moved to Mooresville ten years ago. She was a stay-at-home mom who actively volunteered in her children’s schools. Ketring confidently says, “Once my children were all school-aged, I chose to return to the working world and found a rewarding spot as a preschool teacher. I loved watching them absorb books. Teaching young children gave way to selling books.”
The adventure began
Her first financial adventure started with a mobile book store much like the one she had visited as a child. “When thinking of a name for my business, my husband and I played around with words, phrases and also thinking of marketing. We came up with the idea of Paige Turner – a cute play on words that went along with books.”
“I always kept a basket of free used books on the truck. I never wanted a child to leave without having a book with them especially if they couldn’t afford one. Reading is so important in life and you just never know what book is going to be the one that might just change someone’s life.” — Nikki Ketring
Free books
In addition to a wide selection of new novels for both adults and kids, there are shelves of FREE gently used books available too. It won’t cost you a penny to take home an intriguing and exciting book for you and/or your child. It is not mandatory — however, it is appreciated if customers bring in a used book or two when they choose to take one home. “That way – the inventory is never depleted – everyone benefits and enjoys!” Ketring says.
A cozy store with a lot to offer shoppers!
There is also an amazing inventory of adorable children’s clothes (infants to teen,) plush scented cuddly stuffed animals, an assortment of creative gifts, toys, and BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!
Unique clothes and books for your unique kid!
Is Paige Turner’s store motto. Nikki Ketring smiles exuberantly when she says, “At the end of the day, I feel really good inside especially when I see a customer, who claims not to be a reader, decide to grab a book and try it out only to return a few days later enthusiastically picking another book to take home. I truly feel like I’m helping people grow as much as they are helping me grow my small business.”
