Every month LKNConnect partners with an outstanding non-profit organization in the Lake Norman region. Previous non-profits include: Little Smiles, Lake Norman Humane, Pinky Swear Foundation, Hope House Foundation, Horses That Heal, The Brown Note Community Foundation, Mooresville Soup Kitchen, and Stand Firm Warrior Foundation.

Who qualifies for nomination?

We are looking to promote 501-c3 non-profits that are local to our area. (Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Troutman, and Denver, NC.) Nominate an organization that you feel creates positive changes in the lives of Lake Norman residents. Please note while we applaud and support our faith-based organizations, we can’t partner with organizations whose sole mission is evangelism.

How to nominate – contact our Director of Non-profits Margi Kyle

Write a short email (maximum 350 words) to our Director of Non-Profits Margi Kyle describing the differences your organization makes in our community. Feel free to tell us about a staff member, volunteer, or director of the organization that really goes the extra mile. Or tell us about one or more of your organization’s programs that are changing lives.

Contact Margi Kyle at mkyle@lknconnect.com. Please copy our Managing Editor, Ellen Stafford, estafford@lknconnect.com.

Attention directors – you can nominate your own organization

Contact Margi Kyle and let us help you get yourself known. We are looking for local Non-profits that have a mission to help our community be a better place to live and raise our families.

Our Outstanding Non-Profit of the Month is featured in our online magazine, LKNConnect.com every Thursday during their month. It is usually 4 articles, sometimes 5, depending upon how many Thursdays there are in your featured month.

Non-Profits typically use their articles to describe:

  • Who they are
  • Who they serve
  • Their programs
  • Who are their volunteers and how to volunteer
  • What they need and how the community can donate
  • Events

LKNConnect also has benefits for the non-profit, its associated businesses, and its sponsors through our Marketplace.

Don’t forget – our events pages

Whether or not you are a featured non-profit, don’t forget to email your events to:

Please include:

  • Title
  • Time
  • Date
  • Location
  • Any applicable fees or admission
  • Brief description
  • Links to your website, additional information, and/or EventBrite (places to purchase tickets)
  • One horizontal photo depicting your event

LKNConnect.com is always interested in new writers

Whether or not you are our featured non-profit, you can still write an article about an event or an educational program presented by your organization. Please contact our Managing Editor, Ellen Stafford for writer’s guidelines. Don’t feel you have to be an expert in writing. You already have expertise at what you do and we can clean articles up and make you look as good as you are.
