Queen City Honor Flight
Queen City Honor Flight is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to transporting our deserving veterans from Charlotte and surrounding areas to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.
Honor. Thanks. Inspire.
Queen City Honor Flight recognizes the bravery, determination and patriotism of our nation’s senior war veterans with a one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C. The trip is only one day, but the experience is life-changing.
Our veterans have already given so much through their service to our country. One hundred Veterans taking their Honor Flight with Queen City Honor Flight, fly for FREE on a dedicated chartered plane solely reserved for them to and from Washington, D.C.
100% Volunteer Organization and 100% Funded by donations
Each honor flight costs on average between $80,000-$100,000. Flights are funded by donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, schools, military organizations, and other fraternal organizations that wish to be an important part of honoring these heroes and who recognize the urgent need to fly our WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam veterans to see their memorials. No funding is received from the government.
Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the opportunity to share this momentous occasion with other comrades, to remember friends and comrades lost, and share their stories and experiences with other veterans.

LKN Vets & Patriots
With nearly 90,000 military veterans scattered across the lake’s 520 miles of shoreline and the four counties surrounding Lake Norman, there is definitely a need to bring everyone together in a casual, fun and patriotic environment.
LKN Vets & Patriots was established to “connect and bring recognition to Lake Norman (LKN) military veterans, their families and those that proudly support them.” We accomplish this by regularly highlighting our local veterans, veteran-owned businesses, and other local business owners who give back to our veteran families with a military program, discount and/or incentive. We facilitate meaningful collaboration throughout the LKN community that actively supports veteran-related initiatives by:
Veteran Spotlight
A one-page summary dedicated to highlighting our local veterans—encouraging them to be proud of their service then, and now!
Patriot Spotlight
A one-page summary shifting focus from the veteran to those that actively support them, our “patriots.”
Military Directory
Here you’ll find a growing list of businesses that provide a military program, discount and/or incentive.
FUNdraisers
While we primarily exist “online” through social media and our website, our “offline” presence is growing as we host casual social hours and “FUNdraisers” to directly benefit local veteran-related non-profit organizations.
We encourage participation from all veterans and patriots around the lake including: Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius, Mooresville, Denver, Stanley, Sherrills Ford, Troutman, Terrell and Statesville.
Despite its proximity from a major military installation, LKN is a very patriotic community. We take pride in being the lake’s premier resource to connect our veterans and patriots and appreciate the community’s generosity and support!
