Every week, LKNConnect is proud to introduce one special rescue pet searching for a loving forever home.
Some pets lose their families because of illness or the passing of an owner. Others find themselves in rescue through circumstances beyond their control. Whatever their story, each one deserves another chance to experience the love, comfort, and security of a family.
That’s why we’re launching LKNConnect Rescue Pet of the Week.
Each Saturday, we’ll introduce you to a remarkable rescue pet from AnimalCity. By sharing their stories with the Lake Norman community, we hope to connect wonderful animals with caring families—and help create happy endings, one adoption at a time.
Whether it’s a dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, bird, or another deserving companion animal, every featured pet has one thing in common—they’re looking for someone to love.
Our first featured pet is guaranteed to steal your heart.
Spud is an 8-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua who needs a little time to feel safe.
After his person passed away in June, Spud was taken to animal control. The noise and unfamiliar surroundings were overwhelming, so we were grateful to move him into foster care quickly.
Spud is nervous around new people, dogs, and situations. When frightened or pressured, he may growl, snap, or act defensively. He needs a patient adopter who will respect his space and let trust develop at his pace.
Once Spud decides you are his person, everything changes. He becomes sweet, affectionate, snuggly, and deeply devoted.
Spud is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and recently underwent dental surgery. He now has about 10 teeth remaining and is recovering before meeting potential adopters.
He is not looking for a busy home or a packed social calendar. He is looking for safety, patience, and one special person who understands that some of the best relationships take time to earn.
