As I took my first step inside the cool cozy dimly lit atmosphere of this little place in Huntersville — it was exactly what I was hoping for in a quaint cool fun place to meet for an early girl’s get-together! I spotted my friend who beat the heat before I did and was settled in a comfy spot waving at me with her own grand smile of approval!
As we both rushed through our “hellos and it’s been too longs”, our very spunky server Jordan introduced herself while presenting menus and the specials of the day. She made a few suggestions and we could see this was a great start to something wild and not the ordinary so check your plain palette at the door, you’re going for a wild culinary ride here!
Before we were half way through our roller coaster of catching up and the kids are out for the summer plans, our refreshing cold cocktails arrived and I felt we chose well — going outside the box for both of us — who wouldn’t pick the Jalapeno Margarita with salty rim?
After my first sip I’m not sure I said, “Arrrrghh!” like a pirate or if it was me gasping at the fire on my tongue and in my throat. Regardless, we were warned … but in all our “out for the summer looking for cocktail adventure glory” we went all in and endured the pleasant suffering together!
Today it was tacos, and when asked how they were Jordan said pretty good. Wow — I was expecting her to say “those are popular.” Well, I knew we had an all-star server for sure, not that being named Jordan had anything to do with it. She was not only prompt and professional, she told us what she liked herself and what others ordered a lot.
Between black-bean burgers, stuffed banana peppers, and various salads, she hit the mark when she mentioned the nachos. Well, you all know how much I love both bacon jam and duck so I got pretty foodie excited when she described the Smoked Duck Nachos! [Feature photo above.] Layers of duck, sun-dried tomatoes, white cheddar cheese, green onions, jalapeños, sour cream and bacon jam. They were “HUGE”.
Another round of our spicy sweet iced salted rim concoctions arrive with a wad of napkins, more sour cream (thank you, I can’t feel my tongue) and we let the nacho diving begin! The evening progressed with great conversation and mouthfuls of that amazing creation on a plate. There was no battle of the meats here, bacon jam and smoked duck were perfectly united. This foodie and friends will be back!
