Talis Jones

Many of us can probably relate to author Talis Jones, as before her first book, the only writing she used to do was forced upon her academically. Eventually, her resentment toward writing changed in a major way.

“I got to a point where I needed to escape, and I didn’t know how. I found myself creating a world in my head that grew and grew, until I had to write it down and thus became my first book.”
—Talis Jones

Since that point, she has not stopped writing.

Originally from a small town in Massachusetts, Jones said her story ideas come to her when she least expects it, but once an idea comes to her, she must do something with it. “It could be a song, a feeling, a fleeting thought, a question, a dream, or anything at all, but once inspiration starts, it won’t leave me alone until I’ve written something down,” she said.

Jones credits others for many of the stories she has written. “In many ways, I don’t feel as if I come up with any story ideas; rather, I simply write down the stories of others as they tell it to me,” she explained. “It’s as if the characters have kicked open my door, sat down at the table, and talk, while I try to jot it all down before they disappear.”

Jones will be coming into the Local Author Showcase (LAS) with a completely open mind, and will be featuring her book, Alarum. “I hope it will be an opportunity to meet readers, both those who have read my books or who have yet to learn my name,” she said. “Nothing excites me more than to discuss my books with readers who have a genuine interest or curiosity.”

Deborah Moore

Originally from Troutman, Deborah Moore has had a passion for writing since she was just 11 years old, and her story ideas are a vision of what she would like to have happen in her own life.

“I was an avid reader of my mom’s Harlequin Romance novels and reading them gave me the desire to write my own.”
                                  —Deborah Moore

Moore is looking forward to networking with other authors, meeting prospective readers, and gaining exposure at the author showcase. She will be promoting her book, “Suddenly in Love.”
