Scott Goldfine

Author Scott Goldfine’s talent and passion for writing surfaced early in his life, but despite that, he had other ideas for his career path at first.

“A gift of writing was evident early on in grade school, and I still remember comments from those days that I should pursue it in life. I initially steered away from it toward majors like kinesiology, psychology, and accounting, but my professional life brought me back to it as a career as a media specialist, writer, editor, journalist, publisher, critic, and author.”

Most of Goldfine’s writing is non-fiction. It’s easy to understand why this Los Angeles native’s writing mainly features music, film, and technological industries.

“I am particularly fascinated by the creative process and innovation as it pertains to those topic areas, as I grew up in and around Hollywood,” Goldfine said. “The entertainment industry is in my DNA.”

Goldfine believes the topic of his book, “Everything is on the One: The First Guide of Funk” is enough to hook readers. “Anyone who is a fan of popular music, especially funk, R&B, soul, jazz, and rock, will find it an illuminating, captivating, and a fun read,” he said.

Cheryl Barrett

Cheryl Barrett, a nurse for more than three decades, is the former editorial director for a nursing magazine. She has always loved writing, and helping others to write. She currently authors pieces for the American Holistic Nurses’ “Beginnings” magazine.

Her desire to write a book came to fruition after the death of her husband. “Good Grief: Strategies for Building Resilience and Supporting Transformation” was written to “touch the lives of those that I serve in a way that offers hope, encouragement, and sparks a desire to move toward a healthier version of themselves in mind, body, and spirit,” she explained.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Barrett’s story ideas come from personal, nursing, spiritual, and educational experiences, as well as stress management, transpersonal training, and common sense. She believes her book relates to an event everyone will experience at some point in their life.

“The topics of grief, loss, and dying are of high interest today, and strategies for building resilience during this time is an essential component of survival during this traumatic event. Everyone will experience a loss, and everyone needs and deserves support.”
—Cheryl Barrett

Her book was a recognized winner by the American Journal of Nursing 2018 in the category of Palliative Care and Hospice.
