The Mooresville Public Library hosted a Local Author Showcase on November 9th

Thirteen authors from the Mooresville area participated [Shown above]. Over the course of the two-hour event, a steady flow of avid readers traveled from table-to-table talking with the authors. Many books were sold, but more importantly, was the chance for fans to interact with authors and discover their next favorite novel.

Carleton Prothro attended the event and exclaimed, “As a recent transplant to Mooresville, I was very impressed with the quality and breadth of local authors. Thanks to the Mooresville Library for providing such a nice venue to display our local talent.”

Author Cheryl Barrett stated, “Megan Mosher and her team [Travis Sherrill and Serena Sciarretta] provided a well-organized event for authors. This was the second time I participated. All I had to do was show up and focus on networking.” Mosher and her team positioned the authors throughout the first floor of the library. Each author was creative as how he or she decorated the table. Barrett chose to use Fall colors to compliment her book cover.

Included in the day’s activities was a Bingo game. The participants received a card that needed to be stamped by each author in order to complete the game. The children found this to be an entertaining bonus.

“As a participating author, I was privileged to have the opportunity to share my work, but more than that I was delighted to meet and speak with a number of aspiring writers about their projects.”
Hope Andersen

Author Marnie Schneider had a wonderful experience as well.  “Being included in this event reminds me of something my mom would always say…‘when you get invited…go!’ The best part was meeting other incredible local authors, hearing why people love to read and making new friends! The Mooresville library is a very special place, filled with lots of love!”  Schneider added, “As we say in our house #readingiscool #whenkidsreadweallwin.”

Ending on a final positive note, author Natalie Ramos said, “My experience at the Author Showcase taught me that great writers are sometimes found right in your backyard.”  Ramos’ advice to all writers, “Never give up on your dreams and most importantly continue to support your local libraries and writers because they are the future generation to having a knowledgeable soul and mindset.”
