Toy Store Heaven – for Kids and Adults
Everyone in Mooresville knows where Walmart is located; however, do you know where HobbyTown is? If you love hobbies – toys for all ages — and you are a kid at heart – this store is for YOU!
It is located – across from Walmart at 168 Norman Station Blvd in Mooresville.
Do you enjoy building models? Playing games? Creating something special out of LEGOS? Riding a 4 wheeler? Challenging your abilities with a Radio Control plane, car or boat? If the answer to any of these questions is YES, HobbyTown is your place to shop! It is for children of all ages and also for the child inside of you!
There are Dream Toys for every age; however, the largest inventory focuses on Radio Control Vehicles – a diverse selection of sizes and level of ability – from beginner to those who compete in contests across the country.
HobbyTown also offers plastic models, tabletop gaming, toys, ATVs, and STEM related items. “We like to offer things that require thinking, decrease screen time (especially for kids) and generate skills that may have value in the future,” states owner Jack Hunt.
Meet the HobbyTown Owners
Not long after their move to Mooresville, Jack discovered that the previous owner of HobbyTown was planning to sell the store. “I have been doing radio controlled airplanes and cars since I was a child,” Jack states. “Owning my own hobby shop was like a dream come true for me.” Toward the end of 2016, the deal was finalized and the Hunts purchased HobbyTown.
Spotlight on Lake Norman Airpark
This community is yet another fabulous ‘hidden treasure” in Mooresville.
The Lake Norman Airpark has about 50 homes surrounding the landing strip – most with hangars. There is a paved runway in the middle of the neighborhood.
“We have a deep sense of community with our friends and neighbors, all sharing the passion for aviation,” says Jack who lives at Lake Norman Airpark. “It’s a very active community for golf carts, biking and building/maintaining really cool things in our hangars.”
Residents of the Lake Norman Airpark host several events a year including The Festival of Flight — which showcases the neighborhood airplanes and helicopters. This event is typically in October – so – when fall rolls around – keep eyes on the calendar. The Festival of Flight is fabulous fun for family and friends.
