Let’s face it, when you’re deciding “where are we going to eat tonight?”, if it’s Italian, It better be delizioso!  The food at Pomodoro’s certainly is!

At first glance

Upon acknowledging my reservation to the friendly hostess and asking for a quiet table, I followed her through the colorfully decorated dining room to a cozy booth on the bar side. I couldn’t help but notice the wall of multiple awards and acknowledgments.

Oh … and just as grand, is their beautiful display of luscious cake slices and a variety of baked sweets. WOW, my mouth is already watering and I’m almost thinking maybe I’ll have dessert first!

Red or white?

As I’m quite comfy, nibbling on that perfect crunchy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside steamy bread — slathered in butter which I try not to drip on their fabulous menu! My toughest decision is red or white? I’m not talking wine, I’m talking SAUCE! About that time my senses kick in, as a tray of pastas pass my table, oh that heavenly aroma of garlic floats in the air and seems to settle right in front of me. My friendly server arrives with my ice cold lemon drop martini … oh, can it get more divine?

Well of course it can! And there’s music, too.

The ice-cold grey goose lemon drop martini was so refreshing, I think I even smacked my lips from the pucker since I like mine a little on the tart side. Before I can open my eyes or determine whether I have brain freeze from indulging too fast, I am pleasantly distracted by another favorite — the smooth sound of Frank Sinatra singing of Being in Love and Flying to the Moon lightly on the sound system.

You can have the Moon, if I can have the Piccata!

The dinner salad was just as ice crisp with their homemade ranch dressing. And as I was about to drift off to the moon thinking about those desserts again, my considerate server brought me down to earth when she placed my entree in front of me and oh boy, I was in love alright! I didn’t choose red or white. I chose another one of my favorites here, the Salmon Piccata! Oh Blue Eyes, you can have the Moon. if I can have the Piccata!

What can I say?

Well, not much at that moment since my mouth was stuffed full of pasta and I had butter on my face! Using my bread as a spoon, I sopped up sauce (as lady like as possible, of course). It was a fulfilling moment, and my smiling server was ever so gracious to not even look at me funny, as she quietly placed a stack of napkins in front of me as she walked by to help another table. (She’s so sweet! I thought).

The end is near so it must be time for dessert

About that time, Frank reminded me the End is Near, but no way was I cutting it short without ordering a few pieces of cake, one for now and one to go, since I couldn’t decide on which one to choose. I took a slice of lemon cake (Did I mention I love lemon?) and a slice of chocolate. I mean, we all know we can have cake with coffee for breakfast right? Torta per Colazione!*
