Local service can create an impact far beyond Lake Norman. In this episode of People in the Know, host Margi Kylewelcomes Debbie Fretwell, president of the North Mecklenburg Rotary Club, to discuss a community effort reaching all the way to Guatemala City.

Inspired by the Neighborhood Care Center’s work here at home, Debbie shares how Rotarians and community partners are developing a global grant proposal to support the Camino Center in Guatemala. The proposed project would help renovate a building, prepare spaces for educational programs and support teacher training. Local Interact students are also getting involved by learning to prepare donated computers for use at the center.

Debbie also explains how to explore Rotary, visit a local club and connect with people who share a passion for giving back. It’s a conversation about collaboration, service and the lasting difference communities can make when they work together.
