Fig Prosciutto Pizza with Arugula

When Sweet Meets Savory: The Pizza That Won Over Tony Stafford

This elegant pizza combines the sweetness of fig spread, creamy mozzarella, salty prosciutto, and peppery arugula for a restaurant-style dish that’s surprisingly easy to make at home. Perfect as an appetizer, brunch feature, wine-night favorite, or light dinner.

Ingredients

Pizza Crust

  • 1 refrigerated pizza dough, pie crust, or crescent roll dough
    (Thin crust works best.)

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Black garlic salt (or granulated garlic for a milder flavor)
  • 6–8 tablespoons fig spread or fig jam
    (Apricot jam also works beautifully.)
  • 12 ounces fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Minced green onions or chives
  • Jane’s Krazy Mixed-Up Pepper seasoning (optional)
  • 6 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1 bunch fresh arugula
  • 1 cup shaved Parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Roll pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface until thin, approximately 17 x 10 inches. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza stone. If using pre-made dough, simply unfold and place directly on the pan.

Lightly drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with black garlic salt.

2. Add the Toppings

Spread the fig jam evenly across the dough.

Layer mozzarella slices over the top and season lightly with:

  • Black pepper
  • Chives or green onions
  • Additional garlic seasoning if desired

3. Bake

Bake for 12–20 minutes, depending on the dough used, until:

  • Crust is golden brown
  • Cheese is melted and bubbly

4. Finish the Pizza

Remove from oven and immediately layer the prosciutto over the hot pizza.

Top generously with:

  • Fresh arugula
  • Shaved Parmesan cheese

Serving Suggestions

Cut into wedges or appetizer squares and serve immediately while warm.

Pairs wonderfully with:

  • A crisp white wine
  • Sparkling rosé
  • Fresh summer salad

Margi’s Kitchen Tip
