The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

This is the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s most-popular show of all time! The Herdmans are ready to wreak havoc! What happens when the “worst kids in the history of the world” find out about free food at Sunday school? Worse yet, what happens when they decide to audition for the annual Christmas pageant? Nov. 23-Dec.23. Tickets start at $15.

 

Holidays at the Garden

Need a little holiday spirit? Take a short trip to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont. Twinkling trees, illuminated displays, a towering tree of orchids, and sparkling fountains transform this garden into a festive holiday display. You can enjoy live music, shopping, model train displays, a horse-drawn carriage ride, and even a visit from Mrs. Claus on select days. Nov. 23-Jan. 6, 5-9pm. Admission: adult, $14.95; children 2-11, $8.95; children under 2, free.

Holiday on Ice

Ten thousand gallons of water transform the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza into a skating rink beginning Nov. 16 at 5pm. Grab the whole family for a skate under the lights in this Uptown winter wonderland. $10 admission and $4 skate rental.

 

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.

Journey “under the sea” with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the hit motion picture. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, this musical takes an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. Armour Street Theatre in Davidson. Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade

Not to be missed! Last year over 110,000 people and 600 volunteers lined the streets of Uptown Charlotte on Thanksgiving Day. The parade begins at N. Tryon and Stonewall and continues to 9th. Visit the website for VIP seating.

 

Anne Springs Close Greenway

Any time of the year is a great time to visit, but there’s something about the crispness in the air and foliage that makes fall the best time. It is an ideal destination to bring the whole family to hike, kayak, mountain bike, horseback ride, camp, and fish. Check its website for special events.

 

Charlotte Christmas Village

New location! Seventh Street and Tryon host this European-inspired Christmas market. Check the schedule for performances and enjoy a mug of Glühwein, a spiced, warm wine that comes in both an alcoholic and non-alcoholic version. Nov. 22-Dec. 24, opens at 11am. Closed on Mondays.

 

Home Alone Movie in Concert at the Charlotte Symphony

This hilarious and heartwarming film will be projected on a big screen as the symphony performs John Williams’ beloved score. Belk Theater. Nov. 23-24, 7:30pm. Tickets start at $19.

 

25th Annual Carolina Renaissance Festival

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Step back in time at the 25th Annual Renaissance Festival in Huntersville! Enjoy living mermaids, jousting on horseback, falconry, shows, rides, shopping, food, and free parking at this rain-or-shine event. Huntersville. Fri.-Sun., 10am-5:30pm.

 

Southern Christmas Show
