The Bin, Bigger and Better!

The ‘newest’ hotspot in Cornelius

If you’ve lived in Cornelius for a while, you know that Bin110 has occupied the corner of One Norman Blvd and Catawba for the past 6 ½ years.  Over these years, Andy and Tallie Upchurch have transformed the space into one of the areas elite Bourbon/Wine/Cocktail establishments, with live music 3 times weekly as well.

In a quest for more space and refreshed decor, Bin110 closed for 2 months around the holidays to undergo a complete transformation.  January 26th  was grand re-opening night, and welcomed over 650 friends and new fans to the newly remodeled hotspot. It was standing room only as the local band, Orange Plush, kicked things off for the weekend. Everyone’s initial reaction was ‘WOW!”

Bin110 boasts a collection of 450 whiskies, and all 450 bottles are displayed on the massive, wooded wall behind the bar. The staff are all Certified Bourbon Stewards eager to share their knowledge with new and seasoned drinkers. If you aren’t on the bourbon train, no worries!  Bin110 offers nearly 100 wines (most by the glass) as well as a full cocktail and spirits lineup.

With the new space comes additional new staff members, as well as efficiencies designed to serve quickly and accurately. “We were able to grow the team from 3 to 5, with plans to add additional team members soon” said Andy about the growth. “Having our existing staff stay with us was a great way to keep the vibe into the new model.”

Where do they go from here?

The plan is to use the new space to continue to provide local musicians with a comfortable space, more Bourbon and Wine Tasting programs and the addition of a whole new category, comedy. Upchurch shared that some well-known Winemakers and Vineyard Owners are already scheduled, as is Comedian Jesse Jones on February 21st.

And they’re not just about great libations, they now have a kitchen able to keep their guests happy with appetizers to go with their drink of choice. Brunch is also on the horizon coming in late March/early April as well. The Upchurch’s look forward to utilizing the outdoor space once the warm Carolina weather kicks in.

“Our main focus is to get folks here for a great experience and serve them efficiently,’ Andy shares. ‘Adding three cocktail stations will give our team easier access to the entire bar for any drink request.’ Keeping folks served in a timely manner is their top priority.

If you haven’t been able to check out the new digs, you will want to make the trip. The new look and feel is extremely comfortable and welcoming, regardless of if you are there for the music or just a quiet spot to enjoy some of the best bourbons with friends.
