These chewy, slightly salty, and perfectly sweet cookies are packed with dark chocolate chunks and a hint of sea salt for the ultimate treat.
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, but adds a warm flavor)
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 ½ cups dark chocolate chunks or chips
Flaky sea salt, for topping
1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Cream the butter and sugars in a large bowl using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
3️⃣ Add eggs and vanilla and mix until fully incorporated.
4️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
5️⃣ Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
6️⃣ Stir in the oats and dark chocolate chunks with a spatula until evenly distributed.
7️⃣ Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
8️⃣ Sprinkle each cookie with flaky sea salt before baking.
9️⃣ Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still slightly soft.
???? Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Use chopped dark chocolate instead of chips for gooey, melty pools of chocolate.
Let the dough chill for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze the dough for later use.
