Restaurant Reviews: Maola’s – Cornelius

2 mins read

My Favorite! For Lunch or Dinner.

Okay, I have to tell you that I live just about 4 blocks from Maola’s. (I go there all the time.) It’s located on the corner in the Food Lion plaza in Cornelius. It is my “Go To” place when I’m too tired to cook or wanting a glass of good wine or a yummy pizza or a great stromboli or a marvelous dinner.

Comfortable — Just like Home, but Better!!

You can sit in a booth, or on the patio, or if you call ahead, they’ll pull several tables together so your WHOLE FAMILY can come and eat or celebrate a special occasion.

There is plenty of “al fresco” seating on the patio.

The food is always delicious

And yes, if you decide you want to drop in on a Saturday night, you’ll have to wait. But oh, the food is worth the wait because they make it fresh. (I can let you in on a secret — I don’t mind eating at 5 pm — because I always get a table and the servers are marvelous.)

The menu is extensive, you’ll definitely have to visit more than once! It may be a little thing, but they have really nice cloth napkins — it’s a lovely and unusual touch for a pizzeria.
So, yes, the pizza is amazing …
And the Chicken Ranch Stromboli is my absolute favorite.
I started my meal with a small Caesar salad. The croutons were crunchy and the lettuce was crisp. The Parmesan cheese was generous.

But, Today, I must tell you about an entreé that is a little bit of heaven … Lemon Cream Salmon.

It is broiled salmon with just that little bit of crispy edges and an incredible, flaky center. Now, if that is not amazing enough, they serve it over your choice of pasta — there was no question, it had to linguini for me. Also cooked to perfection, not mushy, a delicious aldenté. Then they toss in broccoli and roasted red peppers. It is topped with a velvety smooth, creamy lemon sauce with the right amount of tang to perfectly complement the salmon. It was a superior meal for a hearty appetite (and yes, I brought half of it home and ate it for supper the next day — it reheated beautifully.)

Lemon Cream Salmon served over linguini.

I paired the entreé with a glass of their House White Wine

The meal was an delight. I only wish I could have saved room for dessert!!
