Sunday Recipe with Margi Kyle

Sweet, Savory & Perfect for Summer

Looking for something a little different for your next summer dinner? Fig & Prosciutto Pizza delivers a beautiful balance of flavors that feels both gourmet and refreshingly light. Sweet, juicy figs pair perfectly with salty prosciutto, creamy cheese, and peppery arugula, creating a pizza that’s ideal for patio evenings, casual entertaining, or a relaxing meal by the lake.

Ingredients

  • 1 ball of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2–3 fresh figs, sliced
  • 4–6 thin slices of prosciutto
  • 1 cup fresh arugula
  • ½ cup ricotta or goat cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Cornmeal or flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness and transfer it to a pizza peel or baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
  3. Lightly brush the dough with olive oil.
  4. Spread the ricotta or goat cheese evenly over the crust and sprinkle the mozzarella on top.
  5. Arrange the sliced figs over the cheese and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Remove the pizza from the oven and top with the prosciutto and fresh arugula.
  7. Drizzle with honey and, if desired, a touch of balsamic glaze. Finish with freshly ground black pepper.
  8. Slice and serve immediately.

Why It’s Perfect for Summer

This pizza is everything summer dining should be—light, fresh, and full of seasonal flavor. Fresh figs bring natural sweetness, while prosciutto adds a savory contrast and arugula provides a bright, peppery finish. It’s sophisticated without being heavy and pairs beautifully with a chilled glass of rosé or crisp white wine.

Chef’s Tip: For a sweet-and-spicy twist, substitute hot honey for regular honey. The gentle heat elevates the flavors and makes this pizza even more memorable.
