- Guide to Nightlife in Lake Norman
Just us and our knowledgeable guide heading deep into the bush … ready for the thrill of the hunt! Oh, what will we find hiding in between these pages — yes pages — I see many choices!
Safari pasta, Miles Nachos, Safari kabobs — ohhhh — you were expecting me to say something about elephants or cheetahs, weren’t you?! Well, I’m talking about this great guide of a menu at Safari Miles restaurant with such a variety of food selections, they even have a two for $20 special on certain nights.
“Heeheeheehee” “heeheeheeheeheeee” we all hear it! It sounds very similar to maybe a laughing hyena? Do hyenas really laugh? Are we in the Serengeti?
It approaches me, slowly, cautiously, with an eyebrow raised and a sly grin and an ice-cold Grey Goose cosmo martini in one hand and I realize it’s the jolly signature laughter of the infamous Austin, one of the most experienced, friendly bartenders I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He is a staple here. And I really think he has a tribe, you know, a fan club.
As we sip and sift through selections of music choices to play on the jukebox — I don’t even have to get out of my seat or worry if I have any quarters because it’s all done on my phone using the TouchTunes app. I think a little “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is in order! So, the mood is set just in time, the hyena sounds are coming again as our mouthwatering entrées arrive.
I go all in, brave with fingers only, dipping the most lightly battered fried shrimp into my cocktail sauce and shoveling spoons of Gouda Mac & Cheese in between — WOW — what a perfect combo!
My fellow tribe members are in hypnotic delight as well, but they are using spears — I mean utensils — for the Seasoned Salmon over Caesar Salad and the juiciest 12 oz. Prime Rib with the tastiest au jus.
I’m almost thinking I’m going to pounce on one of them and take over — well that would be very unlady-like not to mention against all foodie etiquette. So, I’ll stay in my seat and finish my feast and just know at my next visit I’ll order the prime rib — but with a side of the creamy Gouda Mac & Cheese.
A successful Safari expedition has taken place and these Foodie Hunters retreat with our full bellies from a truly great foodie adventure!
