The Fit-Foodie Talks Animal Fat

The Fit Foodie’s Guide to Eat Real in a Processed World

Myth Busting: Fat Doesn’t Make You Fat

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room—literally. For years, we’ve been told that eating fat makes us fat, and as the Fit Foodie, that myth drove me crazy! After struggling with extra weight and questioning how anyone in this world stays slim, I started to dig deeper. I love food and wanted to eat plenty of it without sacrificing my health, so I went on a journey to find answers. And you know what? I found inspiration in the animal kingdom. Stay with me, because what I’m about to share will flip everything you thought you knew about food upside down.

Elephant Food vs. Lion Food

Think of the largest, slowest animal you can—an elephant, right? Now, think of the leanest, fastest, most powerful land animal you can. For me, it’s a Lion or Tiger. Now, let’s ask the important question: What does an elephant eat? Salad. Lots of it. And what does a lion eat? Meat. Aren’t we animals too? So, why on earth would we diet like elephants when we’re trying to look like lions? Exactly—we wouldn’t!

If you want to be lean, strong, and full of energy, it’s time to stop eating “elephant food” and start fueling your body with real, nutrient-dense meals—meat, veggies, nuts, and other whole foods that haven’t been processed to death and they can be full of fat too!

Real Food for Real Life

Here’s the thing: when you stop eating real food, your body starts to act up. Just look at our pets—cats and dogs didn’t have heart disease and diabetes until we started feeding them overly processed, unhealthy food. It’s simple: what we eat matters, and it’s the processed junk that’s causing our health problems, from expanding waistlines to chronic disease. It’s not about going fat-free, gluten-free, or carb-free (though I don’t hate it if that works for you). The trick is to cut out the “fat animal food”—aka the stuff that comes in boxes and bags with 20 ingredients you can’t pronounce.

Eat Like a Cougar, Not Like an Elephant

The secret to eating real food is simple: if it walks, swims, flies, or grows out of the ground, eat it. Load your plate with ingredients you recognize, not ones you need a chemistry degree to understand. I mean, have you ever seen a noodle tree? Exactly. The more processed a food is, the more damage it can do to your body. So why put yourself through that?

Instead, eat things as close to their natural state as possible. Want to eat a ton of food? Go for it, just make sure it’s real, unprocessed, and packed with nutrients. Want to dive into a big juicy steak? Do it, and don’t feel bad about it for one second.

Ready to Make the Switch?

Eating real food doesn’t have to be complicated or restrictive. In fact, it’s the opposite—it’s freeing. The next time you sit down for a meal, ask yourself: Am I eating like an elephant or a lion? Your answer could change everything about how you feel, how you look, and how you enjoy your food.
