WellBEing Wins w/ Debbey Woodruff – Your Mountain Top Experience

Do you remember your last mountain top experience? The one where you felt amazing? Reset for living a life with ease? You experienced the breakthrough, but it didn’t last?

You may wonder, why aren’t those experiences sustainable?

A: Habits. When you go back to your regular routines, old patterns re-emerge. So, what is the secret to lasting MTE’s?

Mapping a Breakthrough
Mapping a Breakthrough
  1. Take a moment to CELEBRATE that your experience was / is authentic.
  2. Comparing your everyday life with the time that unlocked the breakthrough, what was different about the time, place, people, events, environment, energy, mood, conversations, how time was spent? Recall as many differences as you can.
    1. Where were you? Were you on a vacation, hiking, or a retreat?
    2. What was the environment like? Was it tranquil, team building, nature, city, brightly lit, or aesthetically pleasing?
    3. How were the people around you? What were the interactions like?
    4. What was the schedule like? Was there a balance between “work”/”learning” and “rest?”
    5. How did your sleep and eating compare to when you are home?
    6. Which activities were different?
    7. What did you do differently or try? Did you put your phone on mute or refrain from media?
    8. Were you focused on a particular topic that allowed you to move forward in a desired direction?
    9. What enabled you to make changes in perspective?
    10. What was the energy like to enable the breakthrough? E.g. positive, negative, supportive, safe, etc

3. Review your notes to identify how you can regularly incorporate some of the contributing factors into your current life.

For example, when I was burnt out, I vacationed solo and only participated in beloved activities – like art. Layers of built-up stress dissipated. To support the ongoing MTE, I started drawing more regularly– sometimes for only 5 minutes/day, but it helps me feel more at peace and able to better handle inevitable stressors. I discovered how much solo time recharged my emotional and mental batteries, so I also schedule-in walks alone in nature.

What about YOU? What new habit(s) can you build into your life to maintain the breakthroughs that support greater wellBEing?
