Andre Ervay Reviews Burtons Grill & Bar – Birkdale
- Restaurant Reviews
Burtons Grill’s new location sits just across from Birkdale Village, one of Lake Norman’s top
shopping destinations. Its prime spot makes it perfect for unwinding after shopping or kicking
off an evening out. With restaurants in ten East Coast states, this is their third Charlotte-area
location, proving it is already a favorite. The welcoming atmosphere and diverse menu offer
something for every taste.
Founded in 2005 in Hingham, Massachusetts by Kevin Harron, Kevin Rowell, and Pat Gordon,
Burtons Grill offers a blend of luxurious casual dining with comfort and style. The inviting space
features elegant furnishings, stylish wall art, and a spacious bar perfect for catching a football
game. With abundant indoor seating ideal for groups and special events, plus a large dog-friendly
patio that accommodates 102 guests, it’s a great spot for any occasion.
Burtons’ menu showcases its New England roots, featuring dishes made entirely from scratch.
Guests with dietary restrictions are well cared for, thanks to Big 9 allergy protocols and a
comprehensive gluten-free menu. It’s also an ideal spot for families, offering a kids’ menu with a
variety of tasty options.
To start, I ordered the Summertime Spritz, a refreshing blend of sparkling wine, elderflower,
pear, and white cranberry, while Andrea enjoyed a smooth glass of Marqués De Cáceres red
wine. We shared several appetizers: fresh bread served with pesto, herb and garlic butter, and
olive tapenade; Cheesesteak Spring Rolls filled with tenderloin, caramelized onions, peppers,
and melted cheeses, topped with crispy onion strings and spicy ketchup; and, on our server
Jessica’s recommendation, Crispy Calamari perfectly balanced between sweetness and a spicy
kick.
For my entrée, I chose the Classic Burger made with Allen Brothers Angus beef, lettuce, tomato,
onions, pickles, and my choice of cheese on a brioche bun, paired with Parmesan Truffle Fries
and a side of creamy mac and cheese. Andrea had the Roasted Vegetable Bowl, which included
roasted asparagus, mushrooms, zucchini, corn, and peppers served over a rice and quinoa blend,
topped with feta, toasted almonds, scallions, and green goddess dressing. You can add your
choice of protein to the bowl, and she chose steak. Alongside that, she enjoyed crab cakes with
sweet potato fries and mentioned that the crab cakes would be perfect for seafood lovers, as the
crab flavor was very pronounced.
Desserts range from rich seven layer chocolate cake to creamy cheesecake and tangy key lime
pie, each a sweet way to end the meal.
Burtons Birkdale keeps things exciting with weekday Bar Bites from 3 to 6 p.m., all priced at

With its scratch made dishes, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere, Burtons Birkdale has
secured a spot on my list of must visit Lake Norman restaurants.
