The LKN 2025 Playbook is all about networking. Every business owner and solopreneur must focus on relationship building; without it, you will not have referrals, leads, or clients. The best type of networking is the one that sets the stage for the success of others. Think about it for a moment: if everyone around you is successful, you are too!
Success is and always will be a team sport! Starting and growing a profession or small business across Lake Norman is not easy. Yet, it is simple. Pay attention to others and involve them in what you are doing. Couples who have been married for fifty years follow these guidelines. Why not apply them to business?
If you are new to the region or want to jumpstart an opportunity, follow the 90-day rule. Attend every and any networking opportunity for 90 days. Be positive. Be professional. Be yourself. Ask the people you meet why they do what they do. They usually will hand you their business card. This is the time for you to ask why, and then just listen as they tell you their life story.
Generally, after about 90 days of this kind of engagement, you will become a KLT. A know, like, trust (KLT) professional. Their businesses are referral-driven. No marketing budget is needed.
KLTs are connected and respected at the grassroots level. They are always reachable and they always reach out. They spell value, VALYOU.
Now, there are no absolutes with what we call servant networking. Meet everyone you can. Ask questions. A. S. K. is a powerful acronym. “Apply strategy with knowledge”.
The “secret sauce” with networking is social sharing that betters relationships. Commonality and cooperation go hand-in-hand.
Woody Allen once said that 80% of success is simply showing up. Be humble. Be patient. Be genuine. The game plan at every meeting is to meet someone new or renew the conversation with someone you know.
Remember, show up. Show up on time. Actively listen. VALYOU is everything.
