I don’t know about you, but my wife and I live for yard sales. It can best be described as a treasure hunt in today’s world. My wife and I love the adventure and quite frankly, have picked up some interesting items. The purpose of this article, and I am no writer, is to help you if you have decided to host a sale.
First, why are you wanting to conduct a sale?
Why do I ask? It has to do with pricing.
Pricing depends on your goals. If it is to clean out your garage or attic, price your items to go. People that are going to yard sales are looking for bargains. Most yard sale folks are looking for something specific or that deal that they just can pass up.
If you are selling children’s clothes and toys, put them near the road. If furniture is what you are trying move, make sure it can be seen. Many men are looking for tools or electronics. Make sure they can be seen. Remember, the goal is to get people to get out of the car and in your yard.
Be prepared to start early. If your sale is advertised to start at 8:00 expect people to arrive at 7:00. (We have sold items at our yard sales while setting up the night before) In addition, there are several other things to be ready to expect.
Most importantly, you need to advertise your sale. Signage, Signage, Signage. Mark your location well, at intersections close to your house. Nothing is more important than being able to follow well marked signs to get to your sale. Also, LKNConnect has stepped up to create a place to find sales as well as to post your sale. LKNConnect has a huge following and posting on their site will get the word out about your sale. Click on the the banner below for more information.
