What is Coaching with Karen’s Mission

Hi, I’m Karen, a certified health and wellness coach, here to support women in midlife who are ready to take control of their health and reduce the risks associated with prediabetes and insulin resistance. If you’re finding it harder to lose weight now than ever before, you’re not alone—and there are effective strategies to improve your metabolic health.

I specialize in helping women understand how food, cravings, and lifestyle affect their blood sugar and overall health. My approach isn’t about restrictive diets. Instead, we focus on making lasting changes that support your body’s needs, helping you maintain energy, manage weight, and feel your best at every stage of life.

I became a coach after my own wellness journey, where I finally learned how to calm cravings for sweets and many processed foods. Coaching taught me how to manage my mind around food, and understand the root cause of my cravings, so I could implement permanent lifestyle changes that help prevent Type 2 diabetes. It’s easy for me now to enjoy sweets on occasion, but not overindulge.

The Search for an Answer

For years I struggled with sugar cravings. The foods I ate seemed pretty normal until I started tracking how much sugar was in the choices I so often reached for. My days often included iced coffees, carb-heavy breakfast foods, protein bars, a little chocolate every afternoon, and then drinking diet soda to try to give myself a little boost when I felt tired. I knew these foods made me feel great in the moment, but the subsequent crash left me feeling worse and I was in a cycle of cravings that I wanted to break. Eating a relatively healthy lunch and dinner just didn’t make up for the bad choices I was making between meals. I wanted to clean up my diet and change my eating habits. When I started researching habit change, I accidentally found coaching and it was the answer I had been looking for. I have more energy now, eat more whole foods than ever before, and while I still enjoy treats on occasion, they don’t have the control over me like they used to. I’m now on a mission to help other women learn how to calm their cravings so they can fuel their bodies with healthier foods and feel better than they ever have.
