Traditionally, the local YMCA in Mooresville puts on the best Independence Day event in the area. Not only is there an incredible fireworks display but there are also vendors, military equipment that kids are encouraged to explore and games for added amusement. In addition, there is a band for musical entertainment.
This is a fabulous family event and a great way to make treasured memories!
This patriotic tribute to service men and women — past and present — is a beloved tradition in Mooresville.
The grassy area in front of the YMCA is filled with 800+ American flags waving proudly in the breeze and honoring our country and our American heroes – both national and local!
Field of Flags starts on July 2nd and remains — for your enjoyment — through July 5th.
If YOU wish to purchase a flag in honor of a loved one who has served our COUNTY and/or our COUNTRY . . . it is NOT too late!

This event has an additional purpose – it is a fundraiser supporting our community in multiple ways including childhood literacy programs, safe places for families in need and drowning prevention initiatives.
NOTE: Each flag is dedicated to a specific individual and can be picked up after the event. It makes a poignant keepsake..
Come early so you can claim your spot with lawn chairs and picnic blankets.
NOTE – there is parking surrounding the area in every direction – however, if you come early, you will not have to walk as far to the event.
You can bring your own picnic dinner OR you can choose from the wide variety of Food Trucks and satisfy every family member’s craving.
In addition to the festivities – just a short walk from the field – is HOPE PARK! If you have kids – this is an added bonus to the day.
Be sure to bring bathing suits and towels so the kids can enjoy the various water fountains that will cool them off after they play on the playground.
This year’s band is N-Spire. The LIVE MUSIC will start at 7:00 pm and play until the fireworks begin!
Once again – come early and plant your chairs so you have a premium spot for both the band and the fireworks.
The event website emphasizes – pets, grills, sparklers and any personal outside fireworks are NOT permitted.
