WellBEing Wins w/ Debbey Woodruff: Special Guest – Offbeat Wellness’ Rachael Harper

Debbey Woodruff Interviews Rachael Harper

About Rachael Harper – Offbeat Wellness

Rachael’s the owner of Offbeat Wellness. She’s fun, quirky (in her words, “a weirdo”), and a community-maker. A long-time yoga studio owner, she’s venturing into a new thing you won’t want to miss. Her services are for the burnt-out, overstimulated, and exhausted people who desire a safe place to unpack the stress in a way that supports living well! Offbeat Wellness is about a no hustle, no pressure to perform culture; a place to learn sustainable habits that serve your best living.

Serving the Lake Norman area and working virtually with clients, Rachael helps people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and build a community focused on wellness (the Collective).

Rachael’s Accidental Wellness Discovery

Smoking, drinking, partying, singing-in-a-band Rachael accidently discovered the benefits of yoga when a friend invited her to a hot yoga class. During her practice, while in waterfall pose (lying on your back with your legs straight up toward the ceiling), she felt a deep, full-body calm she’d never experienced before. “My nervous system just settled, from the bottoms of my feet to the top of my head” she says. That experience changed her life.

Within a short time, Rachael quit smoking, slowed drinking, and found herself choosing yoga—not out of discipline, but because it simply made her feel better. It made her feel so much better she became a yoga teacher and opened a studio to help others, all the while calling her community of people; people who desire yoga, but may not feel like they belong in the polished yoga studios.

What Is the Offbeat Wellness Collective?

The Offbeat Wellness Collective is a year-long, guided online community focused on nervous system regulation, sustainable daily rhythms, and support that doesn’t feel overwhelming.

  • One focus each week
  • Seasonal wellness practices inspired by Ayurveda
  • Two weekly gatherings—one to learn, one to connect and reflect
  • A big emphasis on community, growing together

The Collective begins each March, and Rachel encourages anyone interested to call her. “It’s a commitment,” she says, “and I want to make sure it truly fits your life.”

Rachael’s Wellness Advice

  • Design your life around your capacity, not expectations.
  • Before productivity, healing, or growth can happen, your nervous system needs to feel safe and regulated. Sometimes that looks like a full practice. Sometimes it’s just a one-minute pause.

“Hold your warm cup of coffee or tea,” she suggests. “Smell it. Feel the warmth. Notice how you’re actually doing.”

  • Rest! Rest isn’t a reward. Slowing down isn’t indulgent. Flexibility isn’t a failure.
  • Give yourself permission to find what works best for your wellbeing.
