More than 900 runners cross the finish line in both races combined each year at the annual Huntersville Half Marathon and Huntersville Holiday 5K, a pair of races that take runners through this town of just over 46,000 residents near Charlotte on a course filled with rolling hills and quiet residential streets throughout.
Runners start the race at the Birkdale Village shopping center, on Lindhorn Drive. From there, the course first heads south and west on Birkdale Commons Parkway past the Birkdale Golf Course and the Cox House Museum, and then into the neighborhoods that lie south of the golf course.
