Financial Advantage w/ Douglas Marion – Fall Preparation: Back-to-School Tips
- The Financial Advantage
Last Wednesday afternoon, I had rushed around, running errands, and doing grocery shopping – and, I felt, well, grumpy and annoyed. My last stop was at Publix near Magnolia estates and as I packed my groceries away (nothing that needed refrigerating), I remembered the new McDowell Creek Greenway.
I thought, “Wow, if I ever needed a peaceful walk, I could use one now.” So I decided to listen to that voice in my head, step out of the car, and around the parking lot to Magnolia Estates Drive where the entrance to the new Phase II McDowell Creek Greenway is located.
For those of you who have walked other portions of the Emerald Necklace, such as the Antiquity Greenway which is primarily flat, this section has some beautiful curves and a hill. When I was walking I saw several bicyclists having a marvelous time. The section I walked which was about half of the Phase II greenway was a great 15 minute workout each way. It’s a simple and enjoyable way to get your 30 minutes of exercise in per day.
I had no idea when I stepped onto the greenway path where it would actually take me, but it was peaceful, the other walkers and cyclists were cordial. It was a great way to end my day. (Now, for those of you who would like to know where you are going BEFORE you set out, click on the map below to see the full Emerald Necklace greenway system.)
