Small Business Navigator w/ Jim Vogel – Rodney the Robot Will Never be the Boss

Small Business Navigator w/ Jim Vogel

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming every aspect of our lives, including business leadership. There is now more and more concern that AI will ultimately displace human leaders. While AI can analyze everything, do routine tasks, and recommend strategy, it will never replace the core human qualities that make leadership what it is and what it has been. The core qualities of effective leadership: empathy, inspiration, connection, and more, will never go away.

Although some “experts” suggest that many leadership responsibilities could be automated, making AI an option for organizations to use in the areas of decision making and problem solving is not going to happen. Robots will not be the boss.  Why?  AI lacks the emotional intelligence and moral compass needed to build trust, navigate change, and inspire people.

It could, over time, be a permanent working partner.  Look at AI as your employee, not your equal.  AI is growing to be a powerful assistant, handling analytics and administrative work, while human leaders can focus more efficiently on strategy, innovation, and people development. Leaders can now learn to leverage AI’s growing strengths. There are many. Leaders can use them to identify and grow talent; it will help with performance issues, assess trends, and predict performance issues.

Leadership will always be human-driven, using interpersonal skills that drive engagement and build organizational culture.

Ultimately, we know that AI will make leadership better. It will make organizations stronger, and it will make what we all do even more efficient.

Consider it as the gift that keeps on giving.
