History/Story of the Dive Bar

Take a step back in time down to the subterranean phenomenon known as Dive Bar, Lake Norman’s ONLY underground arcade bar! This hole-in-the-floor(get it? underground) bar features pool tables, skee-ball machine, claw games, classic arcade playables, darts & more in addition to a full bar and cheap bar food. Dive Bar is a 21+ only journey back in time to not only simpler days, but also less expensive times on your wallet for a fun night out!

Be sure to try their exclusive beer, Dive Beer Lite which is a collaboration with King Canary Brewing. If Miller High Life is The Champagne of Beers, Dive Beer Lite is Dom Perignon of Pilsners!

Meet Co-Owner Robert Grosskopf
Robert Grosskopf

Rob’s journey into the hospitality industry began in 2018 when he was laid off from his corporate job and decided to pursue his passion for food and beverage. He rose quickly through the ranks at Hodges Bend in St. Paul, MN, where he was hired as a bartender and quickly promoted to General Manager at breakneck speed.

In 2020, Rob was forced to close the restaurant due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He then decided to move to Mooresville, NC, to be closer to his parents. While there, he met his current business partners, Gary and Kiera Preston. Fairly quickly, a great bond formed between them and they decided to open 158 On Main together. Since then, Rob and his partners have sold 158 On Main in order to coordinate and concentrate efforts solely on the expansion of the Dive Brand

Since then, Rob has expanded his portfolio to include several other successful businesses, including Dive Bar Cornelius and High Point in December. Not one to forget the importance of community and philanthropy, Rob’s businesses have donated thousands of dollars to charities such as Feed NC, The Dove House, and Iredell Hospice with no plans of stopping or even slowing down.

Rob is committed to expanding the Dive Bar brand throughout North Carolina and providing his customers with a fun and unique dining and entertainment experience. Each location of Dive Bar is set to give a unique experience while staying on-brand. While a “dive bar” isn’t usually something that a person would equate to fun and games, Dive Bar aims to build a network of spaces set on enjoying yourself without breaking the bank- a true rarity in 2023/2024.
