- Guide to Nightlife in Lake Norman
In week 6, there were injuries to five notable WRs. Let’s take a look at the impact of these injuries on their teams.
Puka Nacua injured his ankle in the Rams’ win over the Baltimore Ravens. He did make a cameo appearance afterwards but only ended with 2 receptions for 28 yards. Since the Rams have a bye in week 8, I’m anticipating Nacua to sit out week 7. The Rams face the Jacksonville Jaguars this week in London. The Jaguars rank near the bottom of the league in passing yards allowed so I expect the Rams to continue throwing the ball. With Nacua out, Davante Adams becomes Matthew Stafford’s primary target. The Rams third WR, Tutu Atwell, is banged up so the next man up will be Jordan Whittington. This injury may force the Rams to play more two TE sets and possibly get their top draft pick, Terrance Ferguson, involved in the offense.
Rookie WR Emeka Egbuka is off to a fantastic start for the Buccaneers. The team is already missing WRs Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan with injuries. QB Baker Mayfield will continue throwing the ball and may not have much choice this week facing the high scoring Detroit Lions. The starting WRs for the Buccaneers this week will probably be veteran Sterling Shepard, and youngsters Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson, who are both on the small side but have big play ability. If you are looking to pick up one of these WRs, Sterling Shepard has the safest floor while the youngsters have the higher upside.
If Garrett Wilson is out, stay away from Jets WRs. WR Josh Reynolds is the next man up, but he is a veteran who has bounced around the league and doesn’t offer any upside. One player who could benefit if Wilson is out is rookie TE Mason Taylor. He has been attracting more targets the past few games and could see even more targets without any viable WRs.
The Cardinals have been a disappointing and inconsistent team. QB Kyler Murray has missed time and perennial backup QB Jacoby Brissett has been filling in. Marvin Harrison is incredibly talented but drops too many passes. If he doesn’t clear concussion protocol, then receiving duties will fall on Michael Wilson and Zay Jones. It is best to stay away from these players.
Calvin Ridley has been a major disappointment this season, which is surprising based on the great rapport he established with rookie QB Cam Ward during preseason. Odds are high that you have already benched or waived Ridley. With Ridley out, rookie WR Elic Ayomanor will become Ward’s receiver of choice. He is a desperate play based on how the Titans’ season is going.

Week 6 Record: 1 – 2 Season Record: 10 – 8
Cincinnati Bengals (+5.5) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
This game features the two oldest QBs in the NFL in Joe Flacco (40) and Aaron Rodgers (41). The Steelers have an easy path to winning the division title in what has to be the worse division in the NFL. However, this is a divisional matchup, which is usually a close contest, it is on a Thursday night, these games tend to be low scoring, and the Bengals are at home. Take the home team with the points.
Atlanta Falcons (+2.5) at San Francisco 49ers
The Falcons were very impressive on offense and defense in defeating the Buffalo Bills. The injury-riddled 49ers team may get TE George Kittle back this week, but they lost LB Fred Werner for the season who is the heart and soul of their defense. It’s tough to pick against the 49ers at home but give me the visitors plus the points.
Seattle Seahawks (-3.0) vs. Houston Texans
This is a great matchup of two top defenses. I don’t think the Seahawks defense gets enough credit and they have the ability to pressure the QB without blitzing. I like the Seahawks offense better than the Texans offense so I’m taking the home team and giving the points.
