Wellness Wednesday: 5 Steps to Spring Renewal

While the Lake Norman Community has seen a milder winter, the days were still shorter and a little dreary. This can cause anyone to experience a dip in energy and some depression.

As we get further away from the cold slower months, many of us are feeling the acceleration toward a busy season and overcommitted schedules. The busier we get, the more important it is to have days of renewal.

A busy successful life takes ENERGY!

No matter how you are coming out of winter, spring is upon us and it’s a wonderful time to stop and observe the daffodils.

Here are 5 energizing ways to rejuvenate, destress, and enjoy the season of renewal!

1. Get Outside

There are so many ways you can enjoy the great outdoors in Lake Norman. If you are willing to take a short drive there’s the Lake Norman State Park, Latta Plantation, and even the Whitewater Center. Don’t feel like driving far? You can always walk on the greenways or outside.

Whatever you do, pay attention to the blooming trees and listen to the sounds of spring. Practicing being present to your surroundings is rejuvenating and decreases stress.

2. Exercise Outdoors

Jetton Park offers beautiful trails with gorgeous views of Lake Norman. If you need some accountability, check out the local run/walk clubs in town. Hooptown Brewery in Mooresville is one of my personal favorites. They are dog friendly, all exercise levels are welcome, and it’s a great way to connect with your community.

3. Eat Fresh Foods

This is the season where fresh produce is really starting to grow! My top tip is to ask yourself how you can add more vegetables to your plate. The fresher your food, the more energized you will feel.

Check out The Davidson Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning. They only provide foods from farms and business within a 100 mile radius and its year round!

4. Celebrate Your Wins

How do you feel when someone tells you that you have done a good job? You feel amazing, motivated, and energized to keep pushing forward. Since January 2023, what have you already accomplished? Instead of a gratitude journal, try taking note of what you accomplished each day. This can help you to see that you are making a difference.

5. Have Fun

As busy adults, we often forget to have fun which can lead to burnout. Try blocking out one night a week or one night a month that is designated for you to go out and enjoy life. This can help you relax, laugh a little, and de-stress.
