Tacos with a Purpose: Tacos 4 Life Brings Flavor and Compassion to Mooresville

120 Marketplace Avenue – Mooresville 28117

Okay, Mooresville, we officially have a taco joint that doesn’t just serve up deliciousness—it’s serving up purpose, too! Last week, I had the pleasure of lunching with the four owners of Tacos 4 Life in Mooresville, and let me tell you—this place is more than just another taco joint. Sure, the tacos are huge, flavorful, and made with tons of love, but what sets Tacos 4 Life apart is their heartwarming mission. Every time you purchase a meal, they donate one to the Feed My Starving Children ministry. That means your delicious taco isn’t just feeding you—it’s feeding a child in need. How amazing is that? The stories and photos of children benefiting from this partnership are on display in the restaurant, reminding you that every bite you take makes a difference.

This is a “manna pack” it is the meal that is sent from Tacos 4 Life for each meal purchased in their store.  Ed said it tastes like ramen noodles soup packages but packed with protein.

When you walk into Tacos 4 Life, you’re immediately struck by the family-oriented vibe and the sense that this place is about giving back. The owners Ed and Missy Babcock went on a mission trip where they witnessed firsthand the overwhelming need to fight childhood hunger. They were so moved, they knew they had to do something, then fate brought the Tacos 4 Life opportunity to them……in retirement. Now, they’re not just serving up tacos—they’re serving hope. And you can feel it. From the uplifting Christian music playing in the background to the artwork on the walls (created by families they’ve helped), every detail tells a story of love and service. Even the napkin holders feature photos of the children they support, adding a personal touch that makes your dining experience all the more meaningful.

Food: Fresh, Flavorful, and FIT Foodie Approved

Now, let’s talk about the food because—let’s be real—that’s what we’re all here for. These tacos are next-level delicious! I had the pleasure of trying the crab cake tacos, the mango habanero chicken tacos, and the Korean BBQ steak tacos, and let me just say, I was blown away. Each one was bursting with flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and bigger than your average taco. Seriously, you won’t leave hungry. What’s even better is that you can customize your meal in a way that fits your lifestyle. They offer rice bowls, but if you’re looking for something lighter, you can swap the rice for greens and turn it into a salad. David, one of the owners, made it clear that everything is prepared in small batches daily, using fresh ingredients. No frozen, pre-packaged nonsense here—this is real, wholesome food.

Speaking of wholesome, the family behind Tacos 4 Life is as genuine as they come. Ed and Missy, along with their son David and daughter-in-law Kaley, are the heart and soul of the operation. Ed told me how they never imagined running a restaurant in retirement, but here they are—serving up tacos with their kids and grandkids right by their side.  Kaley is a powerhouse, balancing her role as a mom with helping run the restaurant. She loves being part of the family business, but as she puts it, “Mom comes first,” so David is usually the one taking on the day-to-day operations. The vibe in the restaurant is just as warm and welcoming as the people running it. During our lunch, the grandkids were munching on tacos and chatting about soccer practice and dance class, making the experience feel like I was sitting down with friends.

Nutrition Corner: Healthy Options for Every Lifestyle

Now, you know I wouldn’t rave about a place unless it had something for my FIT Foodie peeps, and Tacos 4 Life totally delivers! Whether you’re gluten-sensitive, dairy-free, vegetarian, or even on the carnivore diet, there’s something for you here. They have an incredibly easy allergen menu that makes ordering a breeze, and the options are endless. You can choose from a variety of proteins—like tofu, seafood, or Korean beef—and craft a meal that suits your needs.

If you’re on my W.I.N. program, I highly recommend going for a salad bowl with one of their perfectly seasoned meats and some salsa on top. The ingredients are fresh and real, from the avocado to the beans and tomatoes, and you know I love that! David even told me that one of his friends, who follows a carnivore diet, orders a bowl full of nothing but meat. They’re happy to work with you to create the perfect meal, no matter your dietary preferences. And the best part? While you’re enjoying your healthy, delicious meal, you’re also helping feed a child in need. That’s a win-win in my book!

So, if you’re looking for a place where you can get amazing food, support an incredible cause, and feel like part of the family, Tacos 4 Life is where it’s at. From the heartwarming mission to the mouthwatering tacos, this spot is more than just a meal—it’s an experience.
