Celebrating NEW Life by hosting a FREE Party

In late September SEVEN baby goats were born at Fit Inn!  On Sunday — October 6th — Amy Register hosted a FREE party for kids and adults so they could meet the “newbies” in town. Each precious goat had a name – which was written on a balloon. Both children and parents enjoyed every minute of cuddling and “socializing” with the precious animals.

The baby goats loved the attention and the tenderness.

Another Wonderful FREE Opportunity for KIDS too!

In addition to planned private parties and other activities, the FIRST Saturday of every month (year ‘round and weather permitting) — from 10 to noon — is FREE.  EVERYONE is invited!  Kids (of all ages) can come to Fit Inn — pet, brush, feed and hang out with the goats, ducks, pigs, turkeys AND make crafts too!

I, personally, did this with my grandchildren – and we ALL loved it!  So much laughter – it was a priceless experience and an incredible memory.

Personal Training:  What to Expect on Your Journey

Personal training is Amy Register’s PASSION.  Her GOAL is to help women — who have given their lives to their careers and/or their families – find themselves again through fitness, healthy nutrition, getting motivated to get back on their feet and realize there is still a lot of life out there just waiting for THEM to ENJOY!

A typical training session includes a mix of weights, TRX, bodyweight, BOSU ball, resistance bands, etc for better balance, strength and endurance using different variables to train the muscles and keep each session different and exciting.

“I understand what it is like to dislike parts of your body,” states Amy. “It is the best feeling when my clients begin to love what they see in the mirror and how they FEEL!”

Amy is a Personal Trainer!

“I look forward every day to training harder, getting stronger, running faster and defying my age – I want to bring others along with me!” claims Amy enthusiastically.  “I will push, challenge and encourage my clients with workouts while building them up from the inside out!  The results are a more confident, leaner, STRONGER body, a calmer mind, more energy, deeper sleep, healthier eating habits and an all-around HAPPIER person!”

Amy and Kevin’s Love Story and How Their Dream Came True

Life has not always been an easy journey for Amy Register.  She is originally from Bloomington, Indiana.  When Amy was in the 6th grade, she and her mother moved to Rocky Mount, NC.  After Amy graduated from Northern Nash High School, she moved to San Francisco and became a flight attendant (14 years) for United Airlines.

During her travels, she met her first husband Dan – they married and settled in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Amy and Dan struggled to have children.  Eventually, they had two sons: Zac and Max.  Their second son was born with severe hydrocephalus and autism. He needed medical assistance only found in Chapel Hill; as a result, they moved their family to the Raleigh area.

When the boys were in elementary school Amy’s husband Dan died “as a result of a horrible tragedy and left us rooted in the Raleigh area,” says Amy.

Fast forward to 2019 – Amy’s boys are grown; she has met Kevin Register and is building a strong relationship with him.

Kevin worked for QMI in the Charlotte area.  As their relationship bloomed, they were doing a lot of driving back and forth from Raleigh to Charlotte.

Will You Marry Me?

Kevin, Amy and Bentley — their 100 pound Golden Doodle

Traveling back and forth from Raleigh to Charlotte was grueling; consequently, the couple began to look for real estate in the Lake Norman area.  In the beginning of 2020, they discovered a rustic, old – and in need of a lot of LOVE – home on Digh Circle (off of McKendree.)

“It was out of our price range,” admitted Amy, “but we made them an offer.”  It was accepted. “Then we prayed it was the right decision and we hoped we could afford the monthly costs and upkeep.”

“Before getting the keys to our (new to us) home on Lake Norman, Kevin asked me to marry him.” Amy says with a smile.

Kevin adds, “I didn’t want to move into our home without being married to my best friend.”

Without hesitation, the couple flew out to Vegas and become husband and wife!  When they returned, they began the remodeling process – immediately tearing down walls, ripping out flooring and getting rid of the popcorn ceilings

“What a mess!” remembers Amy.  Then she adds, “That was in February 2020 – and what we didn’t foresee was the impact COVID would have on our lives and our dreams.”   She pauses before adding, “This is where the story of The Fit Inn Funny Farm begins  – Our HAPPY PLACE!”

Our Wildest Dream Comes True

Amy’s initial plan was to create a workout center in her home; however, COVID put a halt to her dream.

Easter Weekend of 2020, Kevin surprised Amy with a baby goat. They called him HAPPY because he gave them what they needed.

“Goat Yoga is cheaper than therapy.”

Unfortunately, Happy disappeared one day.  “We posted on Nextdoor,” says Amy, “and asked for help from our neighbors.”

At that time, they knew no one in the neighborhood; however, families on Digh Circle came out on the streets with carrots and lettuce in their hands – searching and calling out to the goat.  The community came together – Kevin and Amy found support, friendship AND Happy came home. “Not only did we get our Happy back,” she recalls. “We found new friends.”

They decided Happy needed a playmate – so the couple got Elvis – and then – Amy chuckles, “Our Animal Farm began to grow with more rescues and surprises from Kevin. “To date, there are 12 adult goats (all but 3 are “fainting goats”,) 1 toddler goat, 7 baby goats, Tom & Tina Turkey, Grace & Peppy the pigs, 25 hens, 3 roosters, 5 ducks, Copy the Barn Cat, an occasional deer and bunny drop by for visits and – of course – Bentley – our Goldendoodle.”

Dream Big — Work Hard — Dreams DO Come True!

With a backyard full of animals came the addition of Goat Yoga and Goat Yoga parties!  The business began to flourish and Amy’s dream became a reality!

One More Thing Before You Go . . .

Here’s the Phone Number

“Together with my husband we have trusted God with all we do and pray we please Him,” states Amy. “We truly feel all we have and all we do is a gift from God. We could not have made this up!!

Somehow God has entrusted us with this magical life to do His good works through the love of others and our little HAPPY PLACE”

COME VISIT!

Donations to help feed the animals are always appreciated and may be made through our LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/fitinn or placed in our donation box at the Funny Farm.
