Waking up to the smell of a yummy breakfast casserole is a great way to start your Christmas morning. It’s generally a family favorite and so easy to make. If you use the pre-cooked sausage I suggest in this recipe, you can assemble this casserole in about 10-15 minutes and enjoy your morning coffee while it bakes in the oven. This is sure to be a hit with family and holiday guests. Serving with fresh cut fruit is a great option.
Pre- Heat oven to 350.
-Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish liberally with Pam or cooking oil spray
-Place shredded bread evenly in the bottom of dish
-Sprinkle cooked sausage crumbles evenly over bread
-In a large mixing bowl, whisk 6 eggs and mustard together until evenly blended, then add 2 cups milk, salt and pepper to taste and mix
-Pour egg mixture over the bread and sausage
-Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top
Cook in preheated oven at 350 for 45-50 mins. You can check that it is done by inserting a knife in middle to be sure it comes out clean.
Enjoy!!
