Financial Advantage w/ Douglas Marion – Fall Preparation: Back-to-School Tips
- The Financial Advantage
Are you searching for high quality meat, fresh seafood, delicious sandwiches and wonderful wine? If so, check out Lake Norman Butchery in Mooresville.
Tucked between Mi Amiche Café and JET Fitness 24/7 (at the corner of Morrison Plantation Parkway and Brawley School Rd) you will find a family-owned shop that provides most of your culinary needs.
Sam Buttine, who is originally from Sacramento, California, went to Johnson & Wales to study Culinary Arts and train to become a chef.
Catherine Buttine is a ‘Carolina Girl’ from Concord. She attended UNC Chapel Hill for her undergrad and UNC Charlotte for her MBA.
The two met while boating on Lake Norman. They instantly discovered their mutual love for the outdoors and lake life, which eventually inspired them to get married on a dock overlooking Lake Norman.
When asked why they chose to live in Mooresville, they responded, “Mooresville has a special, small town, friendly feeling with everything you need and tons of fun family events and activities.” It was the perfect place to start a family-owned business.
Sam and Catherine Buttine had a dream. “We always wanted to start a business. The butcher shop is a great combination of Sam’s skills – bringing together his cooking expertise and experiences with our love and passion for great food,” says Catherine Buttine. They truly believe good food is a great way to bring family and friends together.
Sam and Catherine Buttine’s vision inspired them to create LKN Butchery. They opened their doors in February of 2020 – shortly before the COVID-19 Pandemic began. During the shutdown, the word spread that their small, local business was “top quality” and they managed to stay afloat during those difficult months. As their reputation grew, so did their popularity.
LKN Butchery is a unique shop with an incredible team of knowledgeable employees who genuinely enjoy what they do. “Our shop is more than a place to get great food,” claims Sam Buttine. “It is a fun atmosphere where you can learn about your food, how to cook it and try something new from someone you know and trust.”
There is a wide selection of meats ranging from the basic ground beef and chicken breast to wagyu and wild game – and everything in between including house-made sausages, fresh seafood, charcuterie snacks and deli meat.
“Everything in our shop has been hand-picked because it has special meaning to us – even our logo,” states Sam.
The LKN Butchery logo is a creation of the butcher’s knife and cleaver transformed into the sails on a boat – a tribute to their love for Lake Norman.
In addition to an amazing selection of meat, there is also an entire corner in the store dedicated to wine.
“This was my idea,” Catherine proudly claims. Good wine goes with good food — having both in the same store makes shopping an easy task.
If you are looking for a great sandwich at a good price – look no more.
“We love it here in Mooresville,” says Catherine. “Our family and best friends live here, and we’ve met so many wonderful people through the butcher shop – many who we’ve come to think of as family. We’ve celebrated the birth of our two children with our customers.”
Dean turns two in December. Charlotte is 4 months old. “We are currently enjoying the craziness of two children under two,” Catherine smiles as she adds, “and running a family-owned business too.” In addition, she also works at Cigna in internal communications. The Buttines are a dynamic family filled with an abundance of energy, talent and tenacity.
In addition to working behind the counter and sharing his knowledge at the shop, Sam Buttine will also make “house calls” in the form of a charcuterie board demonstration. This collage of pictures was taken in the home of Marie Page when she hosted a LKN Newcomers event.
“Sam is very fun and personable,” says Marie Page (who hosted a charcuterie board demonstration at her home.) The ladies learned how to set a platter and make a beautiful creation. “It was a joy to have him,” says Page.
Stop by LKN Butchery and look at their magnificent choices.
There are fabulous meat choices, incredible rubs and spices, delicious sandwiches, cute gifts, wonderful wines and even cake pop desserts. Plus – meet these knowledgeable and engaging employees. This will soon become your new “favorite place to shop.”
