If you’re concerned about the fact that there is no public access to Lake Cornelius, here’s three things you can do:
According to the Town of the Cornelius’ website: “As part of Duke Energy’s 2015 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) re-licensing, Duke Energy is obligated to provide multiple public access points along the Catawba-Wateree River and Lake system. Duke Energy is considering the shoreline of Lake Cornelius for one of these projects. Lake Cornelius is an approximately 112-acre body of water with roughly 4.5 miles of shoreline, located east of I-77 between Cornelius and Davidson. There is currently no public access on Lake Cornelius.”
The proposed project would be for kayak, canoe and paddleboard access, shoreline fishing, or nature watching, but would not have a motor boat launch, swim beach, camping facilities, dock, fishing pier, or boat storage.
