My good friend Margi and I love to go out to lunch and this week we tried the one of the most popular spots for lunch or dinner — The Waterman in Cornelius, NC. Their official title is The Waterman Fish Bar LKN and it’s a marvelous place to go for the atmosphere and the food.
Who doesn’t love a great lunch special? The specials are available from 11 am to 2 pm.
American cheese, Waterman Sauce, lettuce, tomato, house-made pickle on a brioche bun.
Salmon, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo on Texas toast.
Fried Springer Mountain chicken, spicy glaze, lettuce, tomato, house-made pickle, mayo, on a brioche bun.
I ordered fries as my side and Margi ordered coleslaw. Lots of crispy, deliciously fried shrimp with just the right amount of Waterman sauce, lettuce, tomato and pickle on French bread. They use flake salt on their fries. Delicious!!
Beer-battered cod, house-made pickle, cole slaw, tartar, on a brioche bun.
You can choose indoors, outdoors in the shade or sun, or bar seating, which is technically outside, but the counter is open to the bar on the inside. There is a lovely seating area around a fire pit. There is an overhang on the outdoor patio that provides shaded eating and the day I was there, there was a lovely breeze. And, if you love the sun, there is full sun seating as well!
We were there for lunch and our server, Kilan, was so cheerful, pleasant and helpful. Our lunch came out quickly and it was piping hot.
